In Deep, Far Out

Its been too long since I featured a submarine on the blog. Way back in the Summer, I flagged up the fabulous Hydro Jet Boat and its Japanese cousins. Since then, our far eastern correspondant, Terry, has managed to track down a new addition to the fold. This was the totally cool Gakken Torpedo Sub. I don't believe this is actually connected to the Sea Jet series as its by a different manufacturer, but the packaging is very similar with a fabulous TV21 style illustration.

The Sea Jets all feature the same flaw - the engine on each model resolutely refuses to work, even with new batteries, but the torpedo works fine. It features a cool vector on the tail allowing it to steer instead of a rudder too. Cant say ive braved it in water and ive removed the original batteries from each pack, just in case too!

The bottom picture shows the third model in the sea jet series, which for some reason shot out of the virtual water at a much steeper price than the other two!

  1. Those are without a doubt extremely cool. I would love to put those in my collection.
