Is what's sitting on your Capt Scarlet box (above), Paul this. Late 50s-early 60s interceptor, so the toy would likely be from that same era. That looks like metal and plastic or part-plated. Any markings on it? ( And free world of course, but I'd leave that as-is. Way too nice in its own right, I'd say? :)
