JR21 CRASH TENDER AND MISTER SOFTEE ICE CREAM VAN FROM FERRYMAN

Ferryman has sent through these brilliant pictures of JR21 goodies. The Air Port Crash Tender was posted yesterday on the JR21 Gallery (side-bar link) but this a bigger picture of the box. Now is it just me or does that red and yellow colour scheme look familiar or what? I wonder if what we have here is the prototype of what would become the PROJECT SWORD box livery? Fascinating! Ferryman tells me that there are also versions of this real-life crash tender by Telsada and Matchbox too.

Next up is this quaint Mister Softee Ice Cream Van, this time by the later incarnation (no pun intended!) of the company, Century 21 Toys. Quintessentially the sound of a summer's day back in the Sixties, Mister Softee's tinkling chimes laced the air with promises of refreshing Sky Rays, Mivvies, Fabs and Screwballs! Wonder if the Devo-esque Mister Softee made it to Tracy Island to cool down those highly-strung (pun intended!) Tracy boys? He would have made a great and sinister super-villain for Batman! Interestingly, Dennis Nicholson's bible of Andersonalia lists a Century 21 Ice Cream Van in the Top Gigio section. Is this it or is there actually one driven by the diminutive TV mouse?

Thanks for sharing Ferryman, Cheers, Paul.
