TAMIYA U59 WILDCAT AND U87 STRONGER JOE 90 KITS 1970

And here's the 1970 TAMIYA kit version of the Joe 90 Explosives truck, the U59 WILDCAT. I love the yellow U87 STRONGER too! Did something similar appear in Captain Scarlet (a clip on You Tube anyone?). Both of these would look so cool in the SWORD fleet roving alongside the Scramble Bug and the Prospector. Dennis Nicholson's Andersonalia bible confirms that they are both battery-operated. The Explosives truck is popular with scratchbiulders by the looks of things - Dave Ruther has made one and he even used our old favourite Johnny Express wheels! David Sisson has biult one too and their is an amazing profile and history on Big Rat. WOTAN reckons its a Mike Trim design and Big Rat confirms this. Mr.Trim would have seen the Scramble Bug toy kicking about the place for sure. A photo of the Century 21 modelmakers with SWORD toys would be great! I wonder. And it'd be great to find some plastic toys like these explosive trucks.

I believe there was also a resin kit of the U-59. Comet Miniatures was one seller of these, but they currently appear to have only the Konami version.

Mind you, at about £80 - £90, it was way beyond my reach.
