BLOGGIVERSARY SPECIAL PROJECT: SWORD-Y-KINS LUNAR CLIMBER

Having been stirred out of my deepening Autumnal slumber by the relative success of my paint job on Velbor's fabulous miniature Salvage Craft last week, I thought I'd have a go at a second in my SWORD-Y-KINS line of obscure SWORD and SPACEX DIY miniatures.

So, here we have the LUNAR CLIMBER Lilliput style! About an inch long this Climber is very much DIY and not in any way professionally made, unlike the Salvage Craft. Basically I have moulded Das Pronto modelling clay around a tiny plastic Kinder egg truck, which had the same general shape and fortuitously the exact same wheels as the Century 21 original! - both pictured below. The accessories where from my 'bits n bobs' box, although I had to make the antenna from scratch, which was tres fiddley! A lick of paint later and voila! A bit rough round the rockets but it's the closest I'll probably get to owning the real thing! Like the Salvage Craft I've added a little artwork box for storage purposes. And there you have it, the Lunar Climber Swordikin. A one-off. There are no more.

The original and awesome Century 21 LUNAR CLIMBER - like the mysterious MOONSHIP, a SWORD toy that never was - see earlier posting here and the full climber thread here. This boxed example sold a few years back on Ebay for £80'odd I seem to remember. I was outbid and lost out. WOTAN summed it up when he said afterwards ' Woodsy, you should have put a ton on it!'. Some you win, some you lose. Wonder where it is now?
