During the WOTAN/ WOODSY blogstock meet-up in the Summer, WOTAN presented me with this wonderful and original SWORD painting that he'd done. It really is a cracker and hangs proudly on my bedroom wall. But that's not all. WOTAN has written a short story to go with it - see below and enjoy!
3028 - Scientists on Jupiter Base detect a deep space object originating from the Kuiper Belt and heading towards the Jovian gravitational field. Tracking the object, its path is found to be intra-solar and possibly on an earthbound trajectory. Jupiter draws the asteroid into an accelerated flyby orbit in 3029 and its decided that decisive action needs to be taken to attempt to deflect the path. Expeditionary force is sent out from the small manned base on Ganymede comprising a Space Glider, Task Force 1 and a Scout 2 as all other larger craft are still on deep space assignment. Task force encounters the object as it passes out of the jovian sphere of influence and begins to accelerate into the inner system. All attempts at deflection fail, total destruction of the asteroid is not an option and the asteroid is quickly classified as Global Planetary Killer status. Emergency measures are set in place for evacuation of Earth. 3031 - Asteroid makes earthfall - chaos reigns.

Very cool story. I love the painting. Although I've been an illustrator for a long time I've never dabbled in painting. Grat job!
