Ghost Office

A trip to the Posties today and I thought I'd seen a ghost.

There below the Papers was a stack of plastic masks.

Dracula masks.

£2.49 each.

They're virtually doubles of a similar Drac mask I have.

You can see it here at the top of my old toy cabinet talking to a skull.

Mine was vintage already when I bought it in Whitby at the Stone House shop probably 20 years ago, if not more.  I remember buying three for .... £30. I keit one and sold the others. It's the closest I've been to the quality of a Don Post mask. Somewhere in between that and Ben Cooper.

Mine looks a bit more detailed and is made of quite hard plastic. The Posty masks are flimsier but so similar.

I'll have to find mine for Halloween!

Do you own any masks?

  1. I had many masks back in the day. Mostly the cheap plastic ones, for some reason, probably just because I liked them and they stored easily. But a couple of "full" masks from makers unknown. A whole other world, that! SFZ

    1. Yep, I like cheap masks too SF. There's so many now here in Blighty. Halloween has grown and grown since I was a wee monster.

    "Yes, we have masks..."
"Well, can I see them? Can you show me the masks?""
( spot the mangled SF movie quote!)
Mine are all vacuum formed, and even at the time, they were difficult to find. In fact the best "haul" I ever got was at a Japanese goods and furniture store in Prahran in Melbourne back in the 80's.
Here's an old Moonbase post about them.

Speaking of movie quotes about masks, how about this classic British Horror film?
    "Take them off!"

  3. I have had a Don Post Wolfman mask since my childhood.About 15 years ago,I took it to a horror convention and put it in the hands of Don Post Jr.and posed with him for a picture. After the picture was taken,I realized Tom Savini was standing behind me and we all had a conversation about the mask.Good times!

    1. Now that's a story Brian, a Post Savini sandwich and you were the filling! I love that Wolfman mask too if it's the one advertised at the back of Creepy and Eerie. Grrrrreat!
