As far as I know this is Alan Tracy's sports car.
It's a Japanese miniature by Glico the candy kings.
I first came across this little premium in black and white in Dennis Nicholson's Anderson Merchandise guide book in the mid 1990's, the Bible.
In reality, as shown in these Buyee auction shots, it's a beautiful bright orange.
Do you like it?

Seeing Kevs and Yorkie's comments I thought I'd add the vehicles mentioned for completeness' sake.
Imai TB2 Container 4 with the yellow racing car. Box art by the master Shiguru K. Anyone got a pic of the built up car?

That is a stunning little thing - very nice.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. Where's it from? The comics? It's not his BR2 racing car from the episode 'Move and you're dead' and I don't recall him driving other cars in the series.
ReplyDeleteIt's a Japanese candy premium from the 1960's Yorkie.
DeleteIt looks very much like the one that comes with the Thunderbird 2 launch bay kit, which contains loads of inaccurate models of pod vehicles. The car should have a tailfin but there looks to be a slot for it.
ReplyDeleteYes you're right Kevin. That model originally came with the Imai Thunderbird pod 4 kit back in 1968 and was called the Jet Patrol car in that kits instruction sheet. Totally inaccurate model, more like a 60s sports car. Anway this Glico toy is based on that tiny 1968 Imai version. These small vehicle pod kits also had some designs taken straight from TV21 and the annuals so I do wonder of this is based on something from these.
DeleteI e added a couple of shots Yorkie.
DeleteYes, the tailfins missing on this example Kevin.
DeleteA beautiful little vehicle, even better in those sublime colors! (I think it hilarious how other comments called this toy "inaccurate" - did we forget that Thunderbirds was Science Fiction?!?!) SFZ
ReplyDeleteI think the inaccuracy refered to is about how the little Glico car differs from the actual model in Thunderbirds, the BR2 Lightning 505, SF. A beautiful C21 model in itself, I also really like the tiny Glico candy car.
