Yes, definitely spooky SF! Snow White in its home country, altho other countries may their own version. The Brothers Grimm collected German tales and songs. They didn't write Snow White. It already existed.
I love Automatons! I like the way the main figure draws back his cloak, almost like a theatre curtain rising, to reveal the miniature world within. As a nipper, I was entranced with the Bolland animated scenes in a box at Chessington Zoo. Things like The Drunkard's Dream and The Haunted Graveyard. Do any of you Moonbasers remember them?
I've never been to Chessington but googling those automatons took me to Facebook (I'm not a user) and this on You Tube which may have some footage of them at the start Looey, maybe: https://youtu.be/oENCGLpRZ3g?si=QKZP66T5rUN3mIWi
