The Mystery of the Thunder Ball

Ten years ago I posted this picture of a Vectis auction bundle from 2012.

At the far right is this Thunder Ball, the box photo side I enlarged a little.

To this day neither the toy itself or the origin of the space helmeted boy have been identified or explained.

Can you break the mystery of the Thunder Ball?!

  1. The picture of the boy
    In the helmet is from
    The movie D.A.R.Y.L
    1985

  2. I would guess
    The movie being
    About a robot boy
    The toy was some sort
Of rubik cube type of thingy
    Or electronic gadget.
If you can stand to watch
    The movie there might
Be a clue...i rest my case lol.

  3. Darryl has some good footage of the SR71 Blackbird, but aside from that.. Judging by the box, it’s probably some cheap chinese tat with the boys image tacked on without any actual relevance to the toy. I’d be more curious about the ‘Monster Women’ toy at the back of the box! Bill

  5. The set is called invasion
    Of the monster women.
They did quite a lot of
    Retro rack type toys
    Including a radioactive
    Octopus and frogmen
    Playset which i managed
To get from the states a few
    Years back.
