Woodsy,
Here's some photos of the vintage New Old Stock (NOS) tin-litho service station I mentioned a couple of days ago.
As a recap, the seller stated he bought a bunch of these unopened service stations from the widow of a service station owner. The owner had bought them as promotion's and give-aways and had many left over for years after he retired.
The first photo is a station the seller built to see what it was like.
The second is an ad for the station from an old catalog,
and the rest of the photos are mine. The seller had opened another box to photograph so that buyer's could see what they were getting. I ended up with both the opened box set and another one which is still sealed!

Congratulations Ed, that is an unique find, doubly so! Wish I could come across something so pristine.
ReplyDeleteThanx Arto! Like so many of my acquisitions, this came about from a random search on fleaBay.
DeleteWhat a wonderful looking toy, and with such an interesting story behind it.
ReplyDeleteThanx Paul! So many of these old toys come out of the woodwork because of guy's like the old service station owner who buy things in bulk for their business.
DeleteYes, what a find Ed! Like buried treasure!
ReplyDeleteAND! I just came across another stash of cool toys I totally forgot I had Woodsy - more buried treasure unearthed. More to follow in the next couple of weeks!
DeleteIncredible vintage toy play set, from the Golden Age of Tin Litho - wow! SFZ
ReplyDeleteThank you! On the one hand I really miss seeing tin-litho toys in the stores, but on the other hand there's still so much out there that can be had.
DeleteThat’s lovely , Ed! Fab find. You can’t beat a bit of litho. We had something similar over here made by Mettoy. Will O
