 Hi,

Always wanted to make myself one of these and finally got around to it.

Cheers,

Kevin

    1. Thanks, much appreciated. The world looks better through its amber tint too!

    2. Do you do a rose tinted version. I could do with one! 😂

    3. Ha! No sadly not. I've got a Blake's 7 one that's tinted black but somehow I don't think that'd help!

    4. Will you display this new helmet along with your Blake's 7 one?

    5. No, I try if possible to theme my displays. My Space 1999 helmet is with other Space 1999 props and the Blake's 7 helmet is with other B7 props.

  3. That visor must have been a nightmare to form! Is there any danger of buying a prop spacesuit like the star cops ones you have? Bill

    1. The clear part of the visor was the easiest bit, you can still buy them! I have made the spacesuit chest pack too, so I'm slowly getting there!

  4. How was the clear orange faceplate made Kev ?
    A vac form ?

    1. Amazingly, you can still buy the bubble visors. The 1970s crash helmets on the other hand are stupidly pricey. I bought a cheap, wrong era one and reshaped it with milliput!

  5. I'd love to see how you did it!
What you started with, and how you worked it!

    1. I began with a cheap motorbike helmet, gutted the contents, stripped the paint off it and then just compared it to lots of online photos of an original. Where I needed to add stuff, I used milliput, sometimes backed with strips of plasticard. If I needed to remove stuff, I just cut it away. The frame for the visor was made from plasticard, which I just messed about with until it looked right!

    1. I assume they are for replacing ones on motorcycle helmets, but you'd think they wouldn't fit modern ones? Maybe they are new old stock but you can get them on ebay.

  7. A really nice piece of work. I enjoy all those "kit bashing" techniques to get to what I want -and obviously you do too!

    1. Thank you. Yep, it's fun and, I suppose, keeps the mind active! (and sometimes the vocabulary!)
