In my ongoing quest to find novelty Hong Kong plastic toys I visit a lot of emporiums.
My mate calls it junking.
One place we visit is Harrisons near Rotherham. A massive hangar if what seems like a million glass cabinets and an auction house to boot. They do a mean sausage butty too!
Today's trip didn't garner anything I wanted but there's always interesting stuff. Here's a few tasty morsels I clocked. See what you think.
Glass bead ashtrays that were everywhere in my parents' home when I was a kid. Do you remember them?
An interesting BMW radio!
Fridge deodorisers! Really? Where do they hang?
A proper little Hoover, an exact copy of the one in my folks' house!
This Snow White house is new to me. You?
I'm sure this image is in Action Man packaging. Is that right?
A Give a Show Projector starring Thunderbirds!
A, I assume older, Super Show projector starring Supercar and Fireball XL5!
Pelham ventriloquist's puppet. I didn't know they made those too.
A quarter of the hangar from above.
Unknown ceramic figures. Anyone know what they are? French soldiers?
Classic soda vending machine.
Classic one arm bandits.
A lovely garage, maybe home made. Where's Amersham?
Palitoy's finest and Barbie steward.
One of a huge range of mint boxed Corgis.
All pristine, factory fresh and so cheap!
And then my mate said:
They're re-issues!
Really? Have Corgi reissued everything?
A place to be! Those Chad Valley slide shows are interesting, but the Super Show must be earlier than 1969 stated on the price tag. 1963 more likely.
ReplyDeleteIt does look old. The projectors massive Arto!
DeleteThe Action Man, G. I. Joe to us is a NATO rifle range target.
ReplyDeleteInteresting Anon. Thanks.
DeleteThe Corgis seem too good to be true. I never knew they reissued the more pedestrian toys. All I have ever been aware of is the pop culture cars.
ReplyDeleteI know!
DeleteLooks like a great place.
ReplyDeleteIt is.
DeleteCorgi Club reissues are also available from the US club now with an extra Tariff
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff Terran.
DeleteAmersham is near me in Hemel Hempstead Woodsy.
ReplyDeleteIt's an old market town in Buckinghamshire. It's nearest big town is Watford.
Ha, small world eh Mish!
DeleteWow! Good hunting Woodsy! That range of goods, reminds me of the Castlemaine Antique shop I posted on MB earlier this year. Those Corgis are good by Australian prices, I got an Oxford die cast Ice cream van, to stand in for the Corgi I never had as a kid! But I did have the Citroen ski car back in the day...
ReplyDeleteYeah, I had the ski car too, a beautiful thing.
DeleteOne of the items I got at the most recent Auckland fair, a couple of weeks ago, was a one-armed bandit pencil sharpener, in an Antique Bronze finish. Small world.
ReplyDeleteYes, I've seen those bronzed sharpeners Paul.
DeleteCorgi model club
ReplyDeleteHave reissued a lot of stuff recently including the saints volvo, batmobile, batboat, bond aston gold, yellow submarine and chitty chitty bang bang. They all have some slight variation to the corgi die cast current reissue range.
Thanks for the great info.
DeleteHey, you folks visit a lot of "emporiums" filled with items from the past. I wonder if any of you can help me. When my grandmother passed away (born 1907) she had four little silver "urns" that look like part of a table setting. They're too wide for regular dinner candles. Just over 2.5 inches tall, and about 2.5 inches diameter. Anyone know what they might be for? Here's a photo, thanks. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/iudh4lfqri0q9niuvm6qm/Silver-thing-1-of-4.png?rlkey=e4lsn2yve56s09msxmwhmdima&dl=0
ReplyDeleteHmm, Baron. I Google Lensed them and bigger ones came up as ice buckets for wine bottles but these are way too small. Intriguing!
