ZEROIDS

I know there's still a lot of interest in Ideal's Zeroids and their younger brothers in S.T.A.R. Team. Here's a few photos from my collection.

  1. A spectacular collection Scoop, always good to see. My favourite as a kid was the gold one with the blue box trailer - so clever of Ideal that. I loved watching Goldy slowly dragging something round. Probably Major Matt! Which was your favourite as a kid Scoop?

    1. Zintar, the grey one with the red sled is my favourite, as he was the first one I received as a kid, Woodsy.
Zemo, the red one is the pride of the collection, though.

    1. The only boxed set I haven't got round to photographing yet is the Zeroid Commander set, which features, Zogg the green one, Kev, which I mean to at some point.

  3. Absolutely loved Zeroids.
My fave was Zerak, largely because he was blue.
He was the only one I had, as a kid, but he was enough on his own for me.

    1. That's fair, Mish. Zerak, of course, came in his own control container which was fine, but I preferred Zobor's truck, or Zerak's Sled.

  4. What a marvelous collection! Zeroids were a revelation in the space toy genre, and so exciting to some of us. Space robots taken seriously, for a change! SFZ

    1. I love 'em, Zigg. I may be in the minority but I'd rather have Zeroids than Matt Mason toys.

  5. The Zeroid that lived with me was Zobor. A great little guy who gave me hours of fun with his throwing arm and trailer which used to haul Action Man's kit across our drive. He was a great addition to the Action Man force.

Sadly I wore the motor out, and the plastic eventually cracked and broke before the end of 1971. Zobor even travelled to London with me when I visited my Great Uncle Reg.

    1. A robot well used, Bill, and well travelled by the sound of it.
I'm always pleased to hear of other people's memories of Planet Zero's finest.:)
