Situation Normal all FIMO'd Up

In an attempt to make a repro shin guard for Conan's horse I used some FIMO. It formed well and I was pleased with the look so it went in the oven.

Mistake! It wasn't FIMO. It was air-drying modelling clay and melted like plastic!

Drat!

I'm now keeping things simple and making a guard out of Baco-foil!

That can't melt!

Ha ha!

  1. you need to invest in a 3d printer! they are becoming quite affordable for entry level machines and would be ideal for small jobs like this! Bill

  2. This kind of thing happens to pros too Woodsy.
I once sculpted a small figurine for a comedy show out of Fimo, and put it in the oven to harden.
However, I accidentally set it to 'grill', so when I checked it, the top of the head was just starting to burn !
Thankfully, I caught it in time and reset to 'oven' for the remaining time.
Even the blackened top was OK, as the figure's hair was to be painted black.
    A lucky escape.
