A few shots of the original 'yellow winged' Johnny Lightning Supercar, that came out in 2001. A later release with white wings corrected the error.
Other releases followed featuring Supercar as it might have appeared in a proposed series of a U.S. planned 5-issue run of comic books, which would have picked up where the TV series left off.
Sadly, only one issue appeared in February, 2003.
Thank you Scoop for identifying this model. I had wondered about the yellow wings. My copy of the model sits on 'Northern Heights' my permanent railway layout set in London during the 1950's.
ReplyDeleteHaving Supercar there is a slight stretch as it was made in the 1960's but I always remember the back projection when Supercar was on the motorway with 1950's cars behind it!
Glad it solved a mystery for ypu, Terra. It was filmed in 1960, so I guess having a (late) fifties feel about it works for me. :)
DeleteHow cute! I actually prefer the yellow wings, it matches the rest of the color palette perfectly. SFZ
ReplyDeleteIt certainly gives it a different look, Zigg.
DeleteSweeet! I have three Johnny Lightning versions: all-black Condor version, the black-&-white TV version, and the color version with white wings
ReplyDeleteBrilliant, Ed. I only bothered to get the first version and the comic after meeting the writers of the comic at one of the Fanderson conventions
