My good friend Arto recently sent me this gorgeous Cheiftain tank by T in a Circle, as he knows I love that old Hong Kong brand.
The red stripe is interesting, as if something has been blocked out. It's raised like tape but done in a factory I guess.
The T in a Circle ( Aka Tai Hong) brand is clearly visible on the box.
At some point I'll rustle up a turret.
There have been other plastic Chieftains too.
Here's BPP.
Clifford.
And Merehall I think.
Have you any tanks readers?
I had some green plastic ones that I believe came with some set of plastic army men. You could pull the turrets off, and the left and right treads came off as distinct pieces. They were too small to be in scale with the army men, but I still caused wholesale slaughter on the battlefield with them.
ReplyDeleteSomething like these: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1304/4155/products/timmee-tank-od-3-main_1200x1200.jpg?v=1662087610
ReplyDeleteThey look fab Baron. Ideal for extensive carpet wars!
DeleteThere was also a large plastic 1/32nd scale Chieftain by Timpo in the 1970s, but it was a short-lived model, and it is very hard to find photographs of it. Two were included in a large Playset issued by Aurora in the USA, one in green with American markings, and one in grey with German markings. All came with a suitable - British, American, or German - commander figure.
ReplyDeleteNever seen those Paul. I had an Airfix Alvis truck as a kid, which I loved.
DeleteI remember having a Dinky Chieftan Tank...
ReplyDeleteA robust thing that Scott!
DeleteSomewhere around 15 years ago, I bought up big, on 1/18 scale RC tank toys. I have four or five still sitting unopened in my shed. I was going to turn them into fake tin toys of The Mole from Thunderbirds!
ReplyDeleteNow with my own puppet film to think about, I'll be converting a couple into a Russian T-34 and German Maus for my grand finale adventure!
Mind you, I still have to make my Spitfire vs V-1 story first!
At the moment, I'm just working on a model landscape of Whitehall for the teaser trailer. That does include a Cultivator No.6, so I'll still get a dose of toy tank goodness!
