As a kid, I was lucky enough to own a Corgi 007 DB5. Sadly it didn't last the years and is not one of my still existing toys.
Almost ten years ago, I was visiting a small toy shop in Torquay and saw an original example for a reasonable price.
Now I have one again, and I hear Corgi is reissuing a newly manufactured "original" version.
It seems very close to the original, but I'm somewhat mystified by the lack of a Road Tax disc in this new issue.
However, a bit of internet research suggests this detail on my car, may be an after- market addition.
What do you Moonbasers think?

Hallo, Looey.
ReplyDeleteI had an original also.
I remember, at the time, every boy in the street where I lived had one.
Looking back, it makes me uncomfortable to think of the sacrifices my parents (who were not wealthy and always struggled financially) made to be able to gift me with that -- on my birthday, if I remember rightly.
I have to confess I sold mine on eBay around twenty years ago -- for very little -- when attempting to simplify my life.
Mine didn't have a tax disc -- nor do I remember any of those belonging to my friends having one.
My recollection is that you could buy various items to dress up your toy cards SEPARATELY from CORGI -- including the tax discs.
I daresay someone on here will know definitely.
Best regards to all,
Dal C.
Hi Looey - I had the original version, complete with little fabric sticker that I put on my bike! Mine never had a tax disc on either and its the first time ive ever seen one on a model like this! Bill
ReplyDeleteBetween 1959 and 1961 Corgi released a series of five Accessory Packs - self-adhesive sticker sheets - with various markings including tax discs which could be applied to any model. They were numbered coded A to E.
ReplyDeleteWell done Paul! If anyone would know, it would be you!
DeleteI’ve got a packet of those. I’ll send Woodsy a pic. Will O
ReplyDeleteYay, Will! I'm now really excited to see your examples and see if that's where this tax disc comes from.
DeleteI love Moonbase's sense of community!
Glad you like the MoonBase vibe Looey!
