The best find was the metallic savings bank akin to the US Strato Bank. They made those money banks with Finnish bank logos printed on. I have a couple of them from before, but this one was the first with the red plastic ring around the planet still intact.

ReplyDeleteExcellent Arto! I had the taller matt finish rocket from US Strato as a kid. My folks probably got it when they joined the credit union, as these were often handed out as incentives. Now, I have a shiny plated version out in The Cave.

ReplyDeleteThanks guys. The Finnish version does not have that shiny metallic finish that the U.S. banks made by the Duro Mold Mfg have, and there are also other minor differences. The maker of these banks is still unknown.
ReplyDeleteThe plastic ring around the planet would have required a separate manufacturing process. A nice touch, even though to my eye crude metal and bright plastic do not mix too well.
Could you put money in either the planet or the rocket Arto?
ReplyDeleteYou shoot the coin into the slot on the planet with the spring-loaded mechanism of the rocket. There is a hatch underneath for emptying, though never seen the key!
