I've finally obtained a complete example of the X-300 Space Cruiser made in 1955 by the Finnish plastics manufacturer Telex!
Finding a complete one has been my quiet obsession for the last 15 years, and now that it is finally here I took a X-300 family photo!
Enjoy!

Have you an X-300?

Congratulations. That is a beautiful collection.
ReplyDeleteThanks Paul, it took a long time but was all worth the wait.
DeleteSuperb Arto, its always fundamentally satisfying to find a grail. If only I could lay hands on those extant Spacex II models.. Bill
ReplyDeleteFundamentally satisfying describes my sentiments exactly, Bill.
DeleteI'm certain that you will find those missing Spacexes eventually.
A lovely set.
ReplyDeleteWell done.
Thanks, Mish.
DeleteOh wow- Arto that is awesome! Congratulations on finding that!! I had never heard of Telex before now and to get one with the original box is super!!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Ed. As far as I know only Telex made a box specially for X-300.
DeleteA glorious collection of an amazing toy - well done! SFZ
ReplyDeleteThanks Rob, much appreciated!
DeleteBeautiful Arto. The Quest completed. Enjoy your sensational rockets.
ReplyDeleteI certainly will, thanks Woodsy!
DeleteThat's a captivating '50s design, Arto. The stuff of dreams. Well done on capturing this treasure and adding it to your collection.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tony, one of my favourite designs too.
DeleteI've been reading about the Telex version on Alphadrome Arto. It says it was made by Wittrock. Does that mean anything to you?
ReplyDeleteTelex had some business with the Danish toy manufacturer Wittrock, like their tinplate train in a Telex box

However, it is not known whether the Telex X-300 was made in Denmark for Telex (the toy has Telex logo embossed on the underside) or in Finland.
Could be the former, as some of Telex toys were compiled of foreign (for example Palitoy) parts.
Still, the Wittrock X-300, or Rumskib, on which the Finnish version is alledgedly based on, does not come up online. So the question remains.
Fascinating Arto.
