MATT'S NEW ARMS

Last week Wotan Bill very kindly sent me a bundle of old toys for me to tinker with now that I'm retired and idle!

One of the toys was a Matt Mason Moon Suit. In a sorry state, it was missing its arms and very very grimy from all that lunar toiling.

First up the suit got a thorough clean.

For the famous bendy arms I found this whistle tube in our junk drawer.

For the hands I rescued this chap from my Ebaying 'to list' box

So, the basic materials for the arms came together like this.

and finished up like this

and onto the paint shop.

All done!

A small bellow and pipe would complete it but I'm not sure its necessary for my display

cabinet.

Have you got a Moon Suit?

    1. Cheers Bill and thanks for the donation! Dunno who the chappie is. One of Juniors random figures here. The right size luckily! Do you know what the wires were for in the suit arms?

  2. The moment I saw this post scroll up, I knew the trouble you were in for! I'm very impressed with the final result, it's a pretty good match for the original arms.
On a personal note, my Windows 8 laptop finally started slowly dying ( "Stop, Dave..." ) and I'm in the process of moving my life over to a more recent machine. I'm now experiencing Bill's "anononmous" blog woes and when it seemed I'd got past that, I got "an error has occurred". So I may continue to Moonbase on my phone! ...new tech, why do you always have to learn to drive, all over again?

    1. Cheers Looey, it turned out better than expected! And my sympathies, changing tech is a pain in the hintern for sure. I'm going my old laptop lasts forever. Currently on my phone in bed. 10pm. I'm up early tomorrow.

  3. The wires in the arms were a thin rubber coil to keep the thin rubber 'glove' extended and not drooping.
