As a follow up to Kevin D's comment on my Dinky Mobiles, here's a couple of quick photos showing the LED lighting on one of my Comet Miniatures Stingray models. I've not got round to taking proper photos of this model yet, but as I like to take pictures from lots of different angles the battery and switch are hidden inside the model, behind a removable panel, so I don't have to concern myself about wires on show.
Oh, I like that!
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice model, and fairly accurate, although it does need a few alterations. As it's vac formed, it not like a normal plastic kit, but with a little patience a reasonable result can be achieved. I don't know whether you've tackled a Stingray model, Kev, but it's a a beggar to paint as there's several different colours, of course, and you have to judge all the different angles and slopes by eye,so masking can be a chore.
DeleteNot done a Stingray, I think it is the painting that puts me off! Yours looks brilliant.
DeleteThanks Kev. I've got a couple of Japanese Stingray kits to do. I've had them a while and it's the painting that's making me drag my feet on them too :)
DeleteYes awesome, how about a diorama with the Sea-View? - MJ
ReplyDeleteI will get round to doing some proper photos of the model, MJ. They will have to be dry
Delete'underwater'' shots, as I couldn't put it in actual water as it would get inside the model and short circuit the lighting wiring.
Don't worry Scoop, that's how they shot the 'real' Stingray anyway.
ReplyDeleteA real beauty! Agreed, the trouble with Stingray is the paint job! I had both of the Midori model kits at one point or another, but never had the courage to tackle the intricate paint scheme. Couldn't do it then, and I still couldn't do it today!
ReplyDeleteThe trouble with the Stingray paint scheme is it goes against Naval tradition of Battleship Gray.
ReplyDeleteBattleship Gray maybe I could handle!
