HEROES & VILLIANS

I really should do a post on these two soon.

THE END OF SUMMER

As the end of the summer approaches and Autumn light washes in like milk in a glass of water my mind wanders to the balmy care-free days that have just passed.

Our family holiday with the two Moonbase Juniors on the east Yorkshire coast was simply brill and was everything that Cliff Richard promised in his famous summer song, which we sang a lot!

Here are a few impressions of the moors and the sea, which I took whilst on our holidays.

Back home at Moonbase we marked the end of August with our traditional night-time firepit hoping to cast some light onto the darker months ahead.

Its always hard coming home after a care-free holiday I find but I didn't need to worry about the blog. Scoop did a fabulous job and continues to do so and I'd like to thank him on everyone's behalf for his sterling efforts.

POLAR LIGHTS THE GREEN HORNET BLACK BEAUTY

When it comes to masked heroes, my favourite has got to be The Green Hornet. I've done several posts on the radio and TV character , not so much on the disappointing 2011 film but I will in time.

Here's a few photos of my reissued Polar Lights kit, based on the sixties Aurora kit. When the original Aurora kit designers were drawing it up in the sixties, they obviously chose to go with the single headlights version rather than the twins that were seen in the series. From what I understand the singles should really be normal white headlights, while the twin  were the 'infra-green'. I read somewhere that the revolving light boxes jammed on the twin setting at the start of filming and that's how they remained. Anyway, the upshot is  we get the single lights on the kit and I've used green LED's for obvious effect.

Let's roll, Kato!

BUKI SPACEX LINE DRAWINGS 1983

I saw these on the Bay, Buki space drawings from Israel 1983.

You'll see that a few are the vehicles that inspired the same in the SpaceX toy range.

Two of them - the Nova capsule and the Nova rocket -  are stylised copies of Ed Valigursky's illustrations from the 1960's Man in Space book.

I think these are great! You?

So, on the cover is a Nova capsule.

The Nova capsule is the first line drawing too.

The far right vehicle is the same as the SpaceX Moon Buggy.

The far right drawing is the Nova rocket.

DINKY SPV's I HAVE KNOWN

A few photos of the Dinky SPV , and some of their differences.
