I’m sure one of the kids in my comprehensive had one of those, but the radar screen had hatching on it. He only brought it in once, it was dark olive green and he was mighty possessive of it!
https://dinkytvspace.com/dinky-353-shado-2/ There's more background info here. Basically it was a one-off made at the Dinky factory and out of Dinky parts (radar from the 696 Leopard AA Tank) - I believe its genuine from the evidence I've been given by the son of the person who actually made it at Binns Road. Cheers Kevin (Love this site!)
That link doesn't seem to do much except confuse my phone.

ReplyDeleteThis looks like a custom job to me.
ReplyDeleteTheres an obvious bolt through the pivot point of the radar dish that just doesn't ring true.
Mish.
I must admit, I'm a bit sceptical too but that bolt is not dissimilar to the one that yaws the missile platform.
ReplyDeleteHave checked the bolt out and you're right, Kevin, but it still looks a bit 'botched' somehow.
ReplyDeleteMish.
Yep, somehow it does, most curious.
ReplyDeleteCan't find another one online so it must be scarce. There are code 3's with radars like this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184265906370
