MYSTERY LP STAR SET

This is unusual.

A carded space set on an old Vectis auction.

The four chromed aliens are clearly LP inspired but the chromed spaceman looks like a much later Britains Star System.

A strange combination.

So what date will this be?

  1. If I remember well, the chromed Britains Star System figures were a bootleg clone from Argentina or somewhere else in South America, so I presume that this "set" could be a "home made" one (Vectis, alas, is not new to this kind of "scams", known to them or not I cannot say...).

  2. Here on this AD thread you can see an example of Vectis... well, whatever it is.

  3. Britains Star System was brought out around 1985, so the Alien figure is modern, as Steve points out. I'd suggest he's been dropped in to replace the two missing LP figures. The card looks original though

  4. Theres a lot of counterfeit space toys, or sets cobbled together like the ones on that Vectis thread, with homemade backing cards. I've made some bloggiversary freebies with Woodsy for the blog, but we are always completely transparent that they are fan made. Its the stuff which is peddled as 'vintage' which is no older than last weeks mail that annoys me.

  5. Strange that they are all chromed the same way though. Pure coincidence?
