Strombecker Boosters

Here is the beautiful box art of two Strombecker 1950's model kits with Booster Rocket-like multiple pods. The top one was based on a Krafft Ehricke design and the bottom one Wernher Von Braun. I particularly like the long symmetry of Ehricke's Convair Nuclear Vehicle [top]. More to follow on Booster Rockets.

The box top art have signatures but I just can't make them out. Anyone a Strombecker collector?

  1. Hmmm, the rockets on that bottom one look somewhat like the motors on the spaceship in that Lion and Eagle Comic question we just had. Shouldn't someone warn them? "Hey guys, don't trust those motors near any meteorites!"

  2. For some info on that Von Braun design, take a look here:

The same design was also used by Von Braun as a "Retriever Rocket" to bring the crew of a returning Mars ship home - the Mars ship would enter a high orbit, and this ship would go out to meet them and bring them home.
