Sounds like you had a brilliant childhood!WOODSYhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13456645970983569001noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2156181044707591026.post-43823093109266750542016-05-25T18:43:45.211+01:002016-05-25T18:43:45.211+01:00I take any opportunity to praise mom for being suc...I take any opportunity to praise mom for being such a good provider for our family.Good food was so common at our table that we never gave it much thought.I think one dish that stood out was called "City Chicken",which was cubes of veal threaded on a skewer,kabob style,coated with bread crumbs and fried crisp.It was a rare treat because veal was fairly expensive.I was a fan of Scalloped or "Au Gratin "potatoes which were sliced and baked with cream and topped with cheese.A vegetable, usually from a can,filled out the plate.A common desert was Jello gelatin in a glass bowl with cut up fruit inside.A little whipped cream on top,and dinner was served!Briannoreply@blogger.com
