Difficult to say. I suppose it depends on what counts as significant. To me personally, the works of Gerry Anderson, Star Trek, Doctor Who and Blakes 7 are all woven into the tapestry of my life. In the wider sense, NASA have stated that they view Star Trek as a long term strategy so I suppose its significance is great.
It is an interesting thought. I'm with you on many of them too Kev and O think Star Trek the most important.

Star Trek seems pretty widely recognized and influential, in a variety of ways that go beyond just being aped in other sci-fi shows. The Andersonverse stuff was a big deal in my childhood... as was Dr. Who... but most folks I know are relatively ignorant of those shows, compared to Star Trek.
Would not many folks our age recognise the Captain Scarlet vehicles in the States Knobgobbler?
For deeply personal reasons, I cannot ever look past the original Star Trek.
It looks like Star Trek is the one Arto.
