On Friday evening, I boarded the first of three trains on a journey to visit my very good friend Woodstock. Each successive carriage brought me closer and closer to the land of dark satanic mills and pontefract cakes. Reaching my final stop I was picked up by the moonbase maestro himself and shipped off to Moonbase Central, to be greeted by Mrs Moonbase and Blue the Wonderdog. What I hadn't realised was that I had inadvertantly slipped out of the current time/space continuum and reappeared in a special place of tranquility, hospitality and downright fun. Good food, great music, big box VHS video and a veritable cornucopia of toys, books, historical magazines and paperwork and great conversation. For the best part of the next day, me an Paul sat in the moonbase hydroponic module, discussing every piece of sword and space toy memorabilia we had come across since he started the blog and invited me along for the ride as co-editor. He also stumped me with items for future blog presentation and we talked over the where the blog could take us next. The day slipped past us like a greased pig and we soon found ourselves enjoying a curry while watching a vintage copy of Deep Star Six and the tripped out classic Altered States!
After a great nights kip ,I was further indulged in another passion of mine, car boot sales. Chauffered off to two sales this morning, both of us with high hopes of finding vintage space toys, I managed to score a pair of seventies Earth Globe moneyboxes and a huge gutenburg bible sized volume about the moon landing, 'Moonfire' by Norman Mailer. A lavish Taschen special edition, the weight of which near crippled me carrying it about in the hot sun!
All in all a fabulous mini-holiday and a great opportunity to share ideas and just talk space toys for a few days. Hopefully we should see the results of this meeting of minds in the pages of the blog within the next few months.. watch this space..
but meanwhile - thanks to Mr and Mrs Moonbase for a great little bit of shoreleave!

Wotan - consider yourself a very lucky man! It was fun hearing about your adventure! More posts to come I hope!
Agreed, excellent adventure to the legendary Moonbase HQ; great pics and yes more please.
Great post Wotan! Glad you made the journey safe there and back to Marsbase - now watch the Martian skies for some Curiosity to check upon Your collection!
Cheers Arto
Ps. Have you checked the underside of those two Globe moneyboxes...
I did indeed check the base of the moneyboxes and commented that you must have had a virtual hand in my finding them! Made in Finland of all places! We then had a debate as to how to include the Finnish reference in a blog post!
