Ed 'Ice' Berg has sent over a shot of his gordonesque space fleet, including Tudor Rose, Pyro, Restoration Hardware and even a Marvin The Martian
rocket ship from Wendy's! (Upright rocket, far back row, far right). Fabulous stuff with a classic retro feel to the fleet!

A really great space fleet!
Really cool collection Ed! What about those X-200's with square belly in the back row, can you tell if they belong to some kind of space tower? Been wondering.
Cheers Arto
Rivets and wings! Rockets of style. Beautiful collection of ships Ed!, smack in the middle of the 'Golden Age' of space toys.
Thanx Andy - it's only a portion as none of my Marx stuff is displayed here.
Arto, do you mean a playset where they were perhaps attached by wire to a tower or simply a playset where a tower was present? All the ships in the photo were purchased as stand alone items and not part of a larger playset.
Many Thanx CS! I always loved these and as a kid had several of the Premier Plastics Flash Gordon types. Some things one just never grows out of - thankfully :-)
Ed, I mean the former of which, to my knowledge, there is the Tudor Rose Space Tower, plus its Batman variant. Possibly more.
Aha! I see now. I didn't know about the Tudor Rose Tower. I have S. Mark Young's book "Blast Off" and Bill Hanlon's "Plastic Toys Dimestore Dreams of the '40s & '50s' and didn't notice a Tudor Rose tower. Looks like another hunt!! :-)
The full name is Space City Control Tower, and can be seen here

On my want list too, Ed!
Arto - wowo Thanx for the link! I definitely did not know about this tower and it's not shown in the books I have (altho I really don't have that many to begin with). I'm curious. The photo shows the space ships having a squarish block underneath them. Is this a removeable cradle or was the tooling modified to make this integral to the fuselage casting? hmmmm
Ed - I've been under the impression that the squarish underbelly is an integral part of the casting and therefore different from the standard X-200. (Thence my original question about your pair which seems to be of a similar casting.)
Ps. Blast-Off! is my definite scifi toy heaven, too!
Arto, my bad. I spent last Saturday morning taking photos - lots & lots of photos - and wasn't really paying attention to details UNTIL I just took a look at those toys. The 'squarish' castings are actually the landing gear nacelles (or pods or whatever....). I'll be sending Wotan some photos to help clear up the mystery. Also, my two large X-200s are both Pyro and neither one appears to have a means to connect a rod enabling it to fit on the tower. Perhaps Tudor Rose modified the tooling to allow this.
Cheers Ed, looking forward to those pics! The control tower X-200's seem to come without wheels, but maybe that's just my imagining and they are actually all of a similar casting.
