Holy Bat Smoke!

Kapow! Well, it's here, Batman The Dark Knight Rises opens today. My own excitement is rising as well as I'm something of a batfan. DC's comic superhero has always held me in his dark thrall ever since I read the comics in the Sixties and watched the camped-up high jinks of Adam West on the telly,

Oddly enough it was much later when I started collecting batnalia. Michael Keaton's original big screen Batman was the trigger back in 1989. For me it remains the definitive Bat movie with Keaton's portrayal absolutely spot on knocking the socks off subsequent Batmen. I wonder if bat collectables are still popular?

West, Keaton, Kilmer, Clooney and Bale. Who's your favourite Dark Knight?

Got to be Bale, I could never take the over the top comedy element in the first movies. But then I did enjoy the later batgirl portrayal and now I've got Anne Hathaway in leather to look forward to!

I liked Michael Keaton a lot and remember thinking how odd a choice it was that this stand-up comedian would play Batman, but was nicely surprised to see how well he pulled it off. But times have changed and today's Batman is a much darker figure and Christian Bale fits the bill perfectly.

If Tom's Batblog.com is any indicator, Batman colectibles are as popular - if not more so - than ever and I'm still finding Batman stuff to blog as well.

Not a big batman fan, find it all being taken too seriously! I preferred Adam West and the TV series. Also enjoyed the performances of the actors who portrayed The Penguin, Joker and Riddler in TV series.

My heart goes out to the families of the victims of the Aurora massacre. All they wanted to do was watch this film and lost their lives as a result.

Yes, indeed, Woodsy. Anyone with half a heart will boycott this movie and ignore it entirely, in memory of those ill-fated theater patrons.

Have to say I hadn't heard about the massacre when I wrote that.

I feel nd pray for the victims and their families and friends. I don't believe boycotting anything is an answer or a solution. A sick mind is a sick mind and anything could trigger an abnormal reaction. In this case it was a Batman movie but fixation could have come from any source. After all, the super hero movies are at their core, films of violence and mayhem and not 'My Little Pony' or 'Tinkerbelle' characters prancing around scattering stardust. Let us be thankful that we're still here to enjoy our hobbies - Batman or otherwise
