Pyro Mania

Reader Nyrath the Nearly Wise recently reminded me how cool the Pyro Space Cruiser was. I've put together this collage of the toy and appearances of similar spacecraft on magazines, Spaceways and the Adventure Annual. Nyrath also gave me this great link to a Pyro lookalike posted by super space archivist John Sisson over at his terrific blog Dreams of Space.

I know that at least one comic illustrator (whose name escapes me)used the Pyro model in his strips, and it also appears briefly in the Dan Dare story "Operation Saturn".

I had the other Pyro craft shown on the boxlid, which was also a very good design

Another thing, I beleive the Pyro craft has been reissued in America; does anyone know if you can buy them in the UK?

Sorry, filling up the cooments. The Pyro reissue is the smaller craft shown on the boxlid, not the main one illustrated.

Apologies for so many comments.
Just remembered, the artist of the Spaceways strip cartoon book, who is known to have used toys for his references is Denis McLaughlin.
