Firestorm

Gerry Anderson co-created this Anime series. As far as I can see it's never been shown in the UK. There's some cool 'mecha' with one looking very like the SPV. The Firestorm storyline sounds a bit like Project SWORD's fight with the casuals and the Rejects, but most Anderson plots pit a super force against super baddies don't they. Anyone seen the series?

I got a couple of the DVDs from FabGearUSA. In Japanese but with English subtitles. The heroes are onboard a giant submarine which launches a TB2-like jet from its back (jet has no pod but the nose moves forward to allow vehicles to exit the body). Contains an SPV/MSV look-alike, and two fighters. The vehicles are all CGI, the characters, backgrounds etc standard animation. I enjoyed it, it made a nice change from the robot shows that dominate Japanese SF. The plot is bascially our heroes fighting a terrorist organisation using super-weapons, and it turns out the terrorists are actually aliens plotting to take over the world. There invasion fleet is on it's way. As with a lot of anime, some of the characters actually die.
