A superb show. As much a part of my childhood as the Anderson stuff and DR WHO and LOST IN SPACE. Great days! Imai did a kit of the sub from MARINE BOY too!

Top cartoon. Always wanted the Marine Boy P-1 patrol submarine. Managed to pick up the Imai model last year on Ebay (a few are still around). They made two versions. A small one and a larger one . I have the larger one , it's about 8 inches long including the spike nose.
i reckon this Seven Arts show was the earliest Manga/ Anime cartoon you got outside of Japan. Everything about it blew me away. The music. The ships. The monsters. Marine's boys water-propelled boots and his oxygum! I was always amazed that no-one ever sold oxygum like wrigleys. There's a version of the theme tune with words on YouTube [as well as the japanese version]. I don't remember words. Or?
I have the series on DVD and some do feature the opening with lyrics which is the one I seem to remember more so. I think possibly the show SPEED RACER pre-dates MARINE BOY as the first of this type of thing to hit the rest of the World. May be worth nosing around to confirm though.

I have the Imai P-1, but it was also issued by Academy of South Korea. Beware that one, folks, as it always seems to be missing the transparencies.
BTW I didn't know there were two sizes of Imai P-1. Anyone got pictures, copyright Nazis permitting?
