LET'S GET QUIZZICAL - AGAIN

Here's one for you sci fi/ fantasy movie buffs. The final slippery question's answer can be partly double-checked from the initials of the first 5 answers.
  1. A dystopia where citizens live on nothing more than green wafers
  2. A Stephen King nightmare world where time is eaten by critters
  3. The cat's collar which meant 'worlds' to one great big 'bug'
  4. Fighting hybrids of orcs and men bred by Saruman
  5. Saying Klaatu Barada Nikto led to it staying put
  6. The real location of Tracy Island
Go do it!

OK, Toad will embarrass self if no one else is going for it ...

1. Easy, peasy - it's "Soylent Green" ("Ya know it's people, right?" "Heck, sure I do - now pass the damn salt")

2. Trickier ... could it be "The Langoliers"?

3. The movie is "Men in Black", and the collar has a galaxy hanging on it, disguised as a diamond or something. Was it called, "Orion something-or-other"?

4. "Oh, no, not another bloody Orc!" OK, I haven't a clue with this one. Never did get into Tolkien, so I'm going to have to leave this one ... oh, wait, Mitzi is calling me ... brb ...

"Are you sure? Well, I never saw it, so it's your call. Want me to tell them?"

... OK, Mitzi thinks this one is "Goblin-Men", whatever they are. *Toad shrugs* Never heard of them.

5. Ha! I know this one. It's "Gort" from "The Day The Earth Stood Still".

6. OK, the really tricky one. Immediate thought is, "Pacific Ocean". But doubt sets in as you say this is a slippery answer. My second thought is the location is "Secret". But then further doubts set in, because it must be known where Tracy Island is - it's the home of Jeff Tracy, one of the richest people in the Anderverse, and has probably been mentioned in any number of magazines, such as Time, etc. It is the location of "International Rescue" that is the "secret".

Hmmm ... I'm going to assume this is a double-double trick, and the answer is "secret". So we have,

(1) Soylent Green
(2) The Langoliers
(3) Possibly "Orion", possibly not
(4) Goblin-men
(5)Gort
(6) Secret

And it spells ... erm ... Sloggs.

Perhaps (3) is something beginning with "U", and that would make it SLUGGS ... mmmm, sluggs, Toad likes those.

i got part way though all this, but couldnt for the life of me think of the name of those king Critters, kept thinking, gondoliers, gazateers all sorts of stuff!

I got as far as "Slug"....that Woodsy is a tricky fellow!

Well done guys, you're making progress but not quite there yet:

(1) Soylent Green - correct
(2) The Langoliers - partly wrong
(3) "Orion" as in "Belt" - correct
(4) Goblin-men - No
(5) Gort - correct
(6) Secret - No, it's a real place

C'mon!

Got my nephew in on the deal...is No.4 the Uruky? Not sure of the spelling!

WOODSY said...

Nice one Ed, your nephew's right - Uruk-Hai. That's another one fettled!

Sorry Toad, you got it right with just 'Langoliers'. Didn't see that you'd dropped the 'The'. So nearly all there - it's not 'SLUGGS', it's ......where you'd have found Tracy Island back when Thunderbirds was being made!

Oh, "Slough"!

LOL - fiendish, Woodsy. ^_^

And I think eviled, WOTAN and Toad make a good team (oh yeah, and that nephew).

Ah yes, Slough! Nice one Toad!

I worked there for a while in the late 80s, and I will never forget the smell of Mars Bars as I first drove into the place...quite overwhelming it was!

I shall inform my nephew he was mentioned in dispatches!
