If I'm not mistaken this vehicle was featured in the closing moments of an Avengers episode. Steed and Mrs Peel drive one into a lake.
I don't have one ... if only I did!
An online guide to The Avengers lists the episode RP mentions as, "Castle De'ath".
Wonder if we can find a clip?

You might want to look at the Nash/Austin Metropolitan . a car that looked amphibious but wasn't !
