The Unknown Spaceman

Competition winner Amy flagged up an odd green figure as a contender for Project Spaceman in the previous post and not so long ago, fellow viwer Joe sent me an interesting batch of photos (including the earlier Cherilea loose figures) which included more of these strange, globe helmeted figures. Ive come across them before, but not in connection with any set or in any packaging, so unfortunately, I cant really identify them either! The only real suggestion I can make is that they may have been made specifically as cake toppers using modified MPC moulds and adding a fishbowl visor for exaggerated effect. But feel free to correct me as this is pure supposition! One thing I would say is that they are very reminiscent of the suite from the 1950 film 'Destination Moon'!

Yeah, I've just watched Destination Moon through Love Film! What a coincidence and yeah, I can see the resemblance with the fishbowl astronauts!
