Love My Tender: The JR21 Air Port Crash Tender

I continue to be amazed a the range of toys that JR21 made. Here we have the boxed  AIR PORT CRASH TENDER. Battery operated with a flashing light. Although nothing conceptually to do with Gerry Anderson I can't help thinking Thunderbirds [I think they used the Dinky or Corgi version in some episodes or?]. Picture courtesy of super collector Ferryman. Great box art - who on earth did it for JR21?

they often used the Mtachbox version on distant runway shots at Glenn Field and a few low loaders and police cars too!

It was a real vehicle...based on the Alvis Stalwart/Saracen family of vehicles, and at some time was given a FV Number...I think it was called a Salamander...I'll scan the image from an old MOD Equipment catalogue when I get home and pass it on next time I'm online!
